The original burial ground for Monroe Center was established via a "Peppercorn Lease" in 1765, from Joseph Moss. It was only utilized until about 1780, at which point the current Monroe Center Cemetery on Old Tannery Road was established to supersede the original plot; and is still active today. The cemetery is maintained and operated by the Monroe Center Cemetery Association.
