St. Joseph's Cemetery, or Bishop's Burial Ground (Located at 7th & Washington). Opened in 1824. The bodies from Old St. Joseph's small cemetery were transferred here. Since the property was held in Bishop Conwell's name, there was a long legal battle after Conwell's death. The cemetery closed in August 1893. In 1905 the property was sold, and the bodies were removed to Holy Cross and buried in Section 13, ranges 11, 12 and 13. No lists are available. The Philadelphia newspapers carried this story in June and July 1905, requesting that relatives of those buried in the Bishop's Burial Ground claim the remains, or they would be removed to Holy Cross in August.
