Known as the Anglican Parish of St. Peter, Quamichan, the church next to the cemetery is one of the oldest in the Cowichan Valley of British Columbia. Construction began on the first church in 1866. When it became too small to accommodate the parish, the original building was demolished, and a church large enough for 100 worshipers took its place in 1877. With two additions over the years, the church now seats more than 150.
The earliest graves in St. Peter's cemetery date to 1866. The cemetery slopes down through a meadow , shaded by ancient oaks and fir trees. Many species of wildflowers grow around the graves. With the extension of the burial grounds in 2002, St. Peter, Quamichan is still an active cemetery.
