St. Mary's Churchyard is in the village of Stow cum Quy about 4 miles north east of Cambridge. The grade II listed parish church dates back to the 12th century. During the 14th century it was enlarged and the west tower added. In 1879 extensive restorations were started by the London architect William White. There are floor brasses and monuments commemorating the local families of Ansty, Lawrence, Martin and Stern and a painted canvas with the Royal Arms. In 1883 the churchyard wall was rebuilt by Thomas Musgrave Francis of Quy Hall, who in 1928 erected a tablet to commemorate Jeremy Collier (1650-1726), the church historian, and two former vicars of Quy, Richard Sterne (c.1596-1683), afterwards Archbishop of York and Thomas Herring, (1693-1757), afterwards Archbishop of Canterbury.
