The history of the Eleventh Line "Old Presbyterian" Church Cemetery is briefly covered in "Rural Roots: Pre-Confederation Buildings of the York Region of Ontario" by Mary Myers, University of Toronto Press, 1976. There it states that the SE corner of Lot 26, Concession 11 was donated in 1859 for the "Congregational" church cemetery by George Burton. His young son was buried there after a farming accident, and soon after the family moved away for some years to Australia. The book states that George Burton returned to the Schomberg area, and is buried here in this cemetery. More Burton graves are here.

The cemetery is maintained by the King Twp. Council and the headstones are periodically cleaned, though many are damaged and difficult to decipher. The York Region Ontario Genealogical Society has transcriptions from 1979, with an online index. [Search Cemetery Name for "Eleventh Line" .]

The 1859 Tremaine Atlas shows the location of this cemetery as the "Free Church". Many of the families interred here, are shown in the surrounding area of King Township, and across the county line into Albion Township, Peel Co.
