Add PhotosIt's known that a church dedicated to St. Bartholomew existed on this site in 1138, when the parish was part of the endowment for the Cistercian Abbey of Bordesley. The medieval building existed here until 1775, when it was so damaged by the collapse of its tower that it had to be pulled down. Many of the family monuments within the church were lost and not replaced in the new church.
When rebuilding, it was decided to relocate the present church slightly north of where the former one had stood. In part this was done because it had straddled the county boundary line and, while most of the building was in Worcestershire, its chancel was in Warwickshire.
The current church, completed in 1777 by Francis Hiorne of Warwick, has since undergone a restoration of its interior (1877-79), chancel (1879), and spire (1902).
Throughout the years, the church has also been referred to as 'Terdeberie', 'Terdebigge', 'Tardebick', and 'Tarbecke.' In numerous works on the peerage--St. Bartholomew's long benefiting from its close association with the Barons of Windsor and last two of the three creations of the Earls of Plymouth--it was also called 'Tarbick Church.'
