Mednoye (RU: Медное, PL: Miednoje) is where over 5,000 Soviet citizens were executed and buried by the NKVD in 1937-38, as well as over 6,000 Polish POWs in April 1940. Discovered in the 1990s, it is now a memorial complex with a small museum and a number of memorial areas, one of which is a Polish Military Cemetery (Polski Cmentarz Wojenny).
