St Mark's Church is situated to the south of Rhayader about 1.5 miles slightly northeast to St Gwrthwl's in the village of Nant-Glas in an area known as the Ysfa. The church was built to serve the rural community on this side of the old Nantmel Parish at the turn of the 19th/20th Century.

Unusually, the church has a red brick interior which gives it a unique look compared to the normal stone interiors of the other churches in the parish. Dedicated to St Mark the Evangelist, the writer of the 2nd Gospel whose feast day is the 25th April.
