The REHOBOTH CEMETERY was established in 1839 – this date was found on an embedded tablet on the cemetery entrance brick wall (See Cemetery Photos). This cemetery is a private cemetery. John Bolen Johns (1806-1896) donated one acre of land to create the Rehoboth Cemetery, probably around 1839. He and his family are buried here. His historic large frame farm house was built in 1825 and is located next to the Rehoboth Baptist Church, which is on the other side of Lawrenceville Highway and across from the cemetery.
John Bolen Johns, also donated 2 acres of land to the Rehoboth Baptist Church circa 1854. He also built the first church for $119.00 and was one of the first 12 church-chartered members. The church was established on Saturday afternoon, 5 August 1854. This information was taken from the Johns family manuscripts.
