Originally formed in 1862, its neighbor cemetery was called Cambria Cemetery. In the early 1900s Cambria and Hyde Park (Washburn) merged together forming the cemetery seen today. It is the final resting place for many souls including some of the victims of the Avondale Disaster. Many records for Washburn were lost in the 1980s and early 2000s before the cemetery was abandoned. As of 2026 the cemetery is cared for by Angels of Washburn Cemetery.
