This cemetery was donated by Mr. Hughes somewhere around 1870. There was a family named Henderson's passing though around this time the same time as the flu epidemic and there was a lot of people dying. And this family like many others had no money. Mr. Henderson asked Mr. Hughes if he could bury his daughter on the corner of Mr. Hughes land. That is how this cemetery got started. The first two people buried here are: Mary Henderson Child and Mary's brother: John Henderson Child Sometime after that Mr. Hughes then donated the land where Hughes Cemetery is now. Located at 2258 SFC 311 beside and across the street from The Good Hope Church as there is 2 sections to this cemetery.
