In 1770, by Act of Assembly, the first Rocks Church was established. In 1844, the church was consecrated and named The Church of the Epiphany. The property was deeded to the South Carolina Public Service Authority in 1941 and the church moved to Eutawville to the present building which had been built in 1849 as a building for public worship.
The cemetery of the original church is now an island in Lake Marion. In November 1807, George Benisco was the first to be buried here and on February 9th 1942, James Samuel Gaillard of Numertia Plantation was the last to be buried here.
