Mountain View Cemetery, nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Altadena off Fair Oaks Avenue, was established in 1882. The Mountain View Columbarium, with its mid-century modern design, was later added to the Mountain View Chapel.


In 1923, the Mountain View Mausoleum—designed by noted mausoleum architect Cecil E. Bryan, and built on land once owned by the Reynolds family—was completed.


In the early 1970s, Mountain View Cemetery acquired both the Pasadena Mausoleum and the Mountain View Mausoleum soon after. Today, these two locations are part of Mountain View Cemetery:
