St. Paul's Union Church (Blue Church) was formed in an 1807 agreement between the German Lutheran and Reformed communities in Ralpho Township. Frontier settlers Casper Adams, Peter Dimmick Jr., and Jacob Keller served on the building committee, and the land for the church and burial ground was purchased in 1810 from John and Barbara Pensyl and the heirs of John Arter Sr. A log building that housed the original church was dedicated on April 21, 1811. The first preachers were Rev. John Dietrich Adams (Reformed), Rev. Daniel Ulrich (Lutheran), and Rev. Habking (Hopkins) as the English preacher.
In 1863, the congregations voted to build the current brick church at a spot next to the original church where the schoolhouse once stood. In 1960, the Lutheran congregation decided to merge with the Lutherans of St. Jacob's Church at Reed's Station. The "Blue Church" then came under the sole care of the Reformed congregation, which by that time had become the United Church of Christ (UCC).
