Gary D. Todaro, 70, of rural Fowler, IL and formerly of Pleasant Hill, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Gary was born May 10th 1948 in Pittsfield, a son of Anthony and Gladys Virginia Ottwell Todaro. He married Patricia Ruth Buchanan on February 14th 1965 at Pearl. Patricia died June 15th 2018.
Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1965 until 1976 as an air traffic controller. He was employed as a technical engineer for the Gardner-Denver Company in Quincy for many years. More recently, he served as comptroller for the village of Pleasant Hill, as the Pike County Zoning Administrator and worked with the Two Rivers Regional Council.
Gary was a member of the Pleasant Hill American Legion Post 1048. He was a former member and past president of the Pleasant Hill Lions Club and the Pleasant Hill Jaycees. He and Patti also enjoyed their association with the Mississippi "Mud Dobbers" C.B. Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Cassandra Gilbert of Pleasant Hill, a son, Lonnie Todaro of Pleasant Hill, nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, a brother, and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Gladys Virginia Ottwell Todaro and his wife, Patricia R. Todaro.
Cremation rites are being accorded. A memorial service, with military honors, will be held Saturday, October 27th 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill conducted by Pastor Don Hannel.
