Obituary :
Reverend Lloyd G. Smith, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday October 26, 2020 at Liza's Place Valley Hospice South. He was born on September 28, 1927 in Norwalk, OH a son of the late Harold and Wilma (Kinsey) Smith. Lloyd was a minister at the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church from 1973 till 1986. He served his country in the United States Army where he earned the Korean Service Award with three bronze stars, the U.N. Service Award and the Army Occupation Award while he was serving in Japan. R He received his bachelor's degree in history from Baldwin Wallace College, and a Master of Divinity from Drew University. Reverend Smith was the Past President of the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society and was on the boards of both the Highland and Seceder Cemeteries in Mt. Pleasant for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna (Griffis) Smith in 1995 and a brother, Ted Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruthann (Gary) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant; sons, David (Denise) Smith of Wintersville, and Mark (Lee Ann) Smith of Glen Dale ; a brother, Louis Smith of St. Louis, MS; 6 grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob, Elizabeth, Michael, Joshua and Danielle and 9 great grandchildren.
Friends be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 154 Second St. Dillonvale, OH on Saturday October 31, 2020 from 12 noon till 4 pm, with social distancing and masks required. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 2 pm at Short Creek Cemetery Mt. Pleasant, with Rev. Lorraine Dill officiating, In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt.
