Donald E. Eckhart, age 83, passed away after struggling for years with his illness on Wednesday December 8th 2021 at Scenic Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center, Millersburg OH. He was born on July 18, 1938 to Howard Ellsworth Eckart and Irene E. Singleton in Columbus, Ohio. Don graduated Mifflin High School and then proudly served his country for 6 years in US Marine Corp. He served as a Field Radio Operator receiving 2 Good Conduct Medals while he was in Korea, and Okinawa, Japan. Don also, received a certificate from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for Basic Seamanship. He retired from the CSX Railroad where he a Freight Clerk and certified as a Lift Truck Operator and Applied Freight Rates. He enjoyed working on his house, boating, fishing and researching the family genealogy. He LOVED playing video games with this niece, Jessica Bird. Preceded in death by his parents, Howard Ellsworth Eckart and Irene E. Singleton. Survived by his son, Paul (Laura) Eckhart; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dwayne) Bushee and Samantha Eckhart; siblings, Doria J. Singleton Corse-Whitlatch (Dispenza); Linda Eckhart Smremkar and Wayne Richard Eckhart; many other relatives and friends. Per Donald's wishes cremation has taken place with burial in Union Cemetery.
