Shawnee resident Patty McWilliams went home to be with the Lord on 12 Jun. 2013, surrounded by family & friends.
Patty was born on 22 Aug. 1946, in Joplin, Mo., to Arnold & Ruth (Carter) Long. She was the second of two children.
Patty married Warren McWilliams on 31 May 1968, in Bartlesville.
Patty is survived by her husband Warren, her daughters Amy & Karen, her brother Meredith Long, & his family — his wife Janice, their son Brad, & their daughter Melinda & her family & a number of cousins & their families. She also leaves behind her adopted family, the Kellys, & innumerable friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold & Ruth.
Patty grew up in Joplin, Miami, Okla., & Bartlesville. She graduated from College High School in Bartlesville in 1964 & attended Oklahoma Baptist University. Patty was an active member of University Baptist Church in Shawnee since 1976, where she sang in the choir, played in the hand-bell choir, & taught in the Sunday School program.
She was involved in many community activities & enjoyed working on her family's genealogy. Patty managed the OBU bookstore for many years. She was an avid fan of Bison basketball.
A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m., Monday, 17 Jun. at University Baptist Church, 2515 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee. The family will be available to visit with friends following the service at the church.
