When I got back home, I learned that Ellen Holt Behunin was very ill after having given birth to a son, 2 Nov. 1918. She had contracted the flu. When the baby was a few days old she died leaving a family of small children for her husband to care for, as well as the baby. When he was nine days old we took him into our home and he has been with us since. It was not until 1st of March 1946 was his name on record as anything but Behunin. It was by his and his wife, Clara's, choice, that he was legally adopted to us on this date and his name changed to ours. He is our son here on this earth, and by some miracle I think we shall have him for our son in the eternal world. We educated him and he fulfilled a L.D.S. Mission

Gil Collin, Jack Del, Lonna Darlene, and Clara Jann Pectol.
His mother Ellen Holt died 9 days after he was born and Leonard wasn't able to take care of the new baby. He asked Bishop Pectol and his wife Dorothy (Hickman) if they could help him find a 'good Mormon home' for this new little baby boy. As the Bishop and his wife held Ephraim in their arms, they said, "I think we have already found him a good home". Ephraim Behunin Pectol was legally adopted and he was lucky to have the best of both worlds and he knew it. He is sealed in the Temple to the Behunin's and carries the name Pectol for posterity.
The Pectols had no son's, only 6 girls. Ephraim was happy to do the favor of carrying on the family name of Pectol for them. They gave him a loving home and sent him on mission etc.
He went on The Northern States Mission in 1937 and was on a "Singing Mission" and was part of a touring quartet.
He was drafted into the army in 1944 and was in WWII in Okinawa, Japan where he spent 79 days straight in heaving fighting.
He has 20 Grandchildren, 30 great Grandchildren and 4 on the way.
Later married Betty Lou McIntyre 12 Sep 1973
