LORAINE, Ill. -- Earl R. Shrader, 80, of Houston Township, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday (Feb. 2, 1996) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born Oct. 23, 1915, in Honey Creek Township near Mendon, he was a son of Chester E. and Elva M. Hendrickson Shrader. He married Opal R. Nelson Oct. 2, 1954, near Loraine. She survives.
Mr. Shrader was a veteran of World War II. He served with the Army in the Asiatic, Pacific and Aleutian campaigns. He received a Bronze Star. He farmed in Houston Township for 40 years. He was a member of Centennial Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Loraine, where he was an usher and participated in the annual ice cream socials.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Loraine; a daughter, Janice, of Loraine; a foster brother, Larry Harris of Quincy; three brothers, Dale and Ray of Loraine and Clyde of Plainville; three sisters, Mrs. Larry (Velma) Shinn and Marjorie Fuhrman of Quincy and Doris Taylor of Hannibal, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Shrader was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Wilcox and Hazel Fuhrman.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Centennial Ebenezer United Methodist Church by the Rev. Randy Robinson. Burial will be in Centennial Ebenezer Cemetery with a military detail by the Bear Creek American Legion Post.
Visitation will be held 4-8 tonight with the family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. in the Curry-Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
Memorials may be made to Centennial Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
