Stanley was the son of George and Mary Fairall. The 1930 census lists only Stanley and Ethel as children in their family but the 1940 census showed Stanley as one of seven children who were all living, although 2 had already left home. He had a brother, George age 15, a sister, Ethel also 15, Thomas age 9, and Joyce age 5. Stanley grew up in Allen Park, Michigan although at that time it was part of Ecorse Township. He served in the US Navy during World War II and moved among at least four ships from July 1944 to February 1946, traveling from Algeria to post-surrender Japan. His final rating was Pharmacist's Mate, 2nd Class.
In 1953 Stanley Fairall was appointed to the Allen Park Fire Department, where he attained the rank of lieutenant. He died in the line of duty nineteen years later.
Because of his duty death Stanley Fairall's name is inscribed on the Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial Monument, Stone 4, Row 18. The monument is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of County Center Drive East (north entrance) and N. Telegraph Rd., on Oakland County's complex at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac. The memorial has a website on the internet.
