Stan was the son of John and Georgia (Mothersell) Pyke. He was raised in Rapid River and was a graduate of Rapid River High School.
In May of 1944, Stan enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. Throughout his years in service, Stan received medals of commendation which included the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in June of 1946.
On Oct. 16, 1948, Stan was united in marriage to Donna Aicher, in Milwaukee, and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Rapid River. Stan was a very active member of the Rapid River Post 301 and Gladstone Post 71 American Legions. Additionally, Stan was a member of the Rapid River Lions Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Stan is survived by: his wife, Donna; sons, Steven (Susan), Gerald (Kathy), William, and Martin (Cindy) Pyke; daughter, Barbara (Gary) Bricco; sisters, Beulah Deming, Betty Johnson and Ruby Morey. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stan was preceded in death by: parents, John and Georgia; sisters, Myrtle Creamer and Shirley Nelson; daughter-in-law, Liz Pyke.
Visitation at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military rites, conducted by the Rapid River American Legion Post 301. Funeral services with Pastor William Rafuse officiating.
