Eleanor Keil, a Surprise, Ariz. resident, was born on May 6, 1927, and went to her Lord on December 18, 2016, at 89 years old.
Eleanor was born in Exeter to Julian A. Peterson and Maude (Underwood) Peterson. Eleanor grew up on the family farm and attended a country school. She graduated from Exeter High School in 1944. She received a teaching certificate and taught at the same country school she had attended in Fillmore County.
On June 28, 1946, she married Lovell L. Keil in Fillmore County. They made their home in Crete while Lovell attended Doane College. Throughout their lives together they lived in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado.
Eleanor worked at various jobs through her life but loved to cook, bake and sew teddy bears for her family and friends.
They retired to Surprise, Ariz., in 2001. On December 19, 2015, Mr. Keil passed away in Surprise, Ariz. after 69 years together. Eleanor continued living in Surprise, Ariz. until her death.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (John) Schneidmiller, and Mary (Sam) Mayfield; son, Jeff (Lisa) Keil; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
