NORTON--Nancy Ann Norton was born at Raleigh, Mo., July 19th, 1848, and passed away February 17, 1920. She was married to Lyman D. Smith in Madison County, Iowa, March 30th, 1873. She moved to Monroe in July 1899, where she made her home until about 8 months ago, when due to failing health, she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Campbell of Omaha, Nebr., at whose home she passed from this life. She was aged 81 years, 6 months and 28 days. She was a firm believer in the Word of God, and at the time of her death was a member of the Monroe Union Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, three daughters: Mrs. O.R. Rustemire, Pilger, Nebr.; Mrs. E.J. Woodcook and Mrs. Frank Campbell, both of Omaha, also nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death a number of years ago.
Funeral services were conducted by Dr. C.A. Stewart at the Monroe Union Church this Thursday afternoon and burial was in the Friends Cemetery west of Monroe. Following were the pall bearers, and these were selected by Mrs. Smith: Ed Kelly, Wm. Sigea, Jake McNealy, Orvle Fleming, C. Harding and L.C. Kelley.
