Franklin Volney Blake was born on May 25, 1838, in Windham, Vermont, the son of Susan and George. He married Laura E Skinner on February 8, 1861, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Frank enlisted in the Union Civil War Army on Sep 3 1862 and served with the 49th Army Infantry until mustered out on Jan 20 1863, due to injuries received in service. He died at the age of 25 on Jan 10, 1864 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and was buried in Bennington, Vermont.
