Jerry Downing, 79, of Fayette, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at The Bluffs in Columbia, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Centerpoint Church in Columbia, Mo. Visitation will be from 10-11AM Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Troy cemetery in Bloomfield, IA. Funeral services will also be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, IA at 11AM.
Jerry L. Downing was born December 30, 1942, the son of Roy and Myra Downing. He worked for many years at GTE and then retired from Verizon. He graduated high school in 1960 from Troy High School. and enlisted in the US Navy. He served in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Baya. He married Anna Mae Shepherd on August 27, 1961, and she preceded him in death in 2014. He was a Mr. Fixit and he loved fixing juke boxes and radios. He also loved collecting antiques and going to auctions.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Joy Barbero of Columbia, MO, one son Jay Downing (Natalie) of Fulton, MO, four grandchildren Julia, Luke, Andrea and Bethany. one great-grandchild Connor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna Downing, his sister Mary and his brother Dale.
