MARION - Dorothy was born in Greenville, February 26, 1928, daughter of Lola Godfrey and Francis Huron Stewart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Lindsey McIntyre, an infant son, and her sister, Anita Summey.
She attended the University of South Carolina where she met her husband of 49 years. She and her husband, Freddy, resided in Marion where she worked for 50 years as secretary of Marion Presbyterian Church. She worked with/for seven ministers: Ben Ormand, James Reaves, Jack Davidson, Art Gatewood, Steven Caine, John Lyles, Holton Siegling and many interims.
She loved attending USC Gamecock football games. In recognition of her commitment and dedicated support of the Athletic Program for 68 years, The Gamecock Club recognized her at the Carolina-Clemson game, as 2013 Legendary Fan of the Game, November 30, 2013.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick L. McIntyre, Jr. (Cindy) of Ashville, NC and Stewart McIntyre (Angie) of Florence; two daughters, Debra Wilkinson of Myrtle Beach and Sally Rowe (Gordon) of Marion; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
A service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Marion Presbyterian Church, officiated by The Rev. Mr. Tom Langston. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery will be private.
