James LeRoy Miller, 81, of rural Clyde, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2024, following a brief illness. He was at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Jim was born in Fremont on June 19, 1942 to the now deceased Lois (Smith) and John Miller. He was a 1960 graduate of the former Townsend High School.
Mr. Miller was a United States Army veteran serving with the 101st Airborne for three years.
Jim was happiest outdoors! He loved to garden, raise steers and care for his horses. His dog, Max was glad to be with him and his "chores".
After 38 years, in 2002, he retired from the Whirlpool Corp in Clyde and was able to spend more time farming.
On June 15, 1962, he married Mari Lou Downing. She, along with their five children, John (Kim) Miller of Green Springs; Jacki (Jim) Andrews of Clyde; Jodi (Brett) Groller of Irmo, South Carolina; Jeanine (Brad) Lindquist of Perrysburg and Jerri (Chris) Zacko of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania survive. Six grandchildren, Kristie, Chelsea, Lee; Braiden; Kennedy and Harper are also surviving. Also surviving are six great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his sisters and their husbands, Judy & Bob Massey and Carol & Tony Mira.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 11:30 am until the services at 1:00 pm at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens with military graveside provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers to Hospice of NW Ohio aor St. Jude's Children Hospital.
