Loraine Louise (Colley) Berry, 63, from Lavon Texas, went to sing praises to God Almighty with the hosts of heaven on May 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends as she drew her final breath here before falling into the arms of Jesus.

Lori was born on December 6, 1960, in Houston, TX to the late Robert L Colley and Margaret Ann (McGee) Colley.

Lori was the youngest of four daughters and the only blonde in the family. Her sisters used to tease her that she was adopted because, as is most often the case, there were fewer baby pictures by the time they got to the fourth child. She was also a PK (preacher's kid) and moved many times in her childhood.

She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Beth Claire, and by the third oldest, Patricia Darlene (Colley) Esfandiari.

After Lori graduated High School in Dangerfield, TX in 1979, she went on to study nursing at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. While studying at TJC she met the love of her life in James B Berry III (Trey). They were married on August 15, 1980, at the Church of Christ in Dangerfield, TX. After delaying her studies due to the birth of her two children, Lori returned to TJC in 1987 to complete her nursing degree and became a Registered Nurse in 1989, eventually holding nursing licenses in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, and California. Her combination of passion, empathy and knowledge made her a great nurse. Whether in a hospital setting, wound care, hospice, or as a health coach on the phone, Lori provided total care for her patients. She never turned anyone away who needed a listening ear or medical advice and was always willing to help.

Lori's favorite place to be was on the beach. She loved seashells, dolphins, lighthouses, and riding the ferry in Galveston. She learned from her Dad that humid air is called "soft". She loved soft air much to the consternation of her husband who likes "hard" (dry) air.

Lori was dedicated to her family and delighted in her children and grandchildren. She served faithfully in many roles at Shiloh Road Church of Christ (Tyler, TX), Cedar Hill Church of Christ (Cedar Hill, TX), and Eastridge Church of Christ (Rockwall, TX).

Lori is survived by her husband of 43+ years, James B Berry III (Trey); her son James B Berry IV and wife Ruth, daughter Christina E (Berry) Dotson and husband Alex; sister Debi Rameriz and husband Gary; Grandchildren: Bryan M Berry, Damian Rissa Dotson, and Blaze Dotson, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation opportunity with the family will be available on Saturday June 1st at 1:00 P.M. at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home in Palestine, TX followed by a funeral at 2:00 P.M. Internment at Roselawn Park will follow.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Martin Tucker, Bryan Berry, Blaze Dotson, Alex Dotson, James Berry and Caleb Berry.

A Memorial service to celebrate her life is planned for Sunday June 2nd at 3:00 pm at Eastridge Church of Christ in Rockwall, TX.
