Bettie Sue Goolsby Allen Doyle passed from this life on June 17, 2024 at Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee. She was born January 14, 1934 in Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Theodore Rhymond Goolsby and Nancy Massa Goolsby.
Ms. Bettie was a graduate of Cookeville Central High School class of 1952. She loved quilting, and she shared many quilts she made as gifts to friends and family. She also enjoyed working on puzzles.
Ms. Bettie especially enjoyed history, which she studied at Tennessee Tech, and she did extensive genealogical research over the years. Her efforts and work on local genealogy were substantial, and her sharp memory proved particularly useful in her research. She touched many lives with her passion for genealogy.
Ms. Bettie was the mother to twin sons: Brenton Edward Allen and
Kenton Rhymond Allen, both of whom predeceased her. Bettie is also predeceased by Carroll Lee Doyle whom she married in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee December 28, 1977.
He was retired Navy and we moved to Hanging Limb, Tennessee in 1979. They were divorced in 1979. She leaves behind two grandchildren and two
great grandchildren.
∼Bettie Sue was a much beloved friend of many, including genealogists and family historians researching their ancestors in Putnam County and surrounding areas in Tennessee. She and her beloved mother, Nancy Massa, spent endless hours transcribing information found on microfilm before it was readily available online and could be found recording burial information inscribed on headstones in area cemeteries. Always helpful and willing to share her knowledge with others, she will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
It is Bettie Sue's wish to have her ashes buried at the A.F. Byers cemetery resting between her beloved sons who pre-deceased her. A marker will be added and a photo added following the internment of her ashes.
