Denny Ray Nelson Sr., age 42, of Yonkers, New York passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Denny was born September 30, 1979.
Denny was born in Tamuning, Guam on September 30, 1979 to Peter and Marie R. Nelson. He received his education at Agaña Heights and Carbullido Elementary Schools, Agueda Johnston Middle School, and Father Duenas High School. He graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in business management.
Denny later moved to Southern California where he worked as an IT manager and network engineer. His current and previous employers include Atos, World Wide Technology, Xerox, Northrop Grumman Corporation, and the Federal Credit Union. Over the course of his career, he earned a CCIE networking certification. Denny was a visionary who excelled at seeing the bigger picture within systems. In his spare time he enjoyed swimming, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Denny is survived by his wife, Diamond Summerville-Nelson; their children, Dream Anna Marie and Denny Ray Jr., affectionately known as Denny Boy; his mother, Marie R. Nelson; his siblings Henry (Beth) Nelson, Scott (Lerma) Nelson, Peter (Carole) Nelson Jr., Casey (Dorothy) Nelson, and Crystal (David) Nelson; his godparents, Leonard and Melba Aguigui and Roland San Nicolas; his grandmother-in-law, Anna Pendleton; his mother-in-law, Susan Pendleton; his father-in-law, Jerome Michael Summerville; his sister-in-law, Jamillah (Joe) Hicks; his brother-in-law, Michael Summerville; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Peter R. Nelson; his paternal grandparents, Henry and Isabel Nelson; and his maternal grandparents, Jose Reyes and Rita (Reyes) Aglubat.
Private interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers, NY at a later date.
A visitation for Denny will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. A mass of christian burial will occur Friday, May 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Anthony's Church, 10 Squire Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703.
