Harry lived a life marked by love, strength, and purpose. Born June 3, 1957, in Osceola, AR to the late Jesse James Williams and Willie Bell Rupert Williams, he was a devoted son, loyal friend, and steady presence in the lives of many. Known for his wealth of knowledge, strength and deep compassion, he led by example-through hard work, faith, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Harry peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 1:01PM
surrounded by his mother, sister, niece and nephews. He was happily reunited with his great grandparents, grandparents, siblings, family members and friends.
He was a faithful servant of the Lord throughout his entire life. Accepting Christ at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.H. Robinson. After graduating at the age of 16, Harry relocated to Jackson, MI at the age of 17. In Jackson, Harry joined New Macedonia Baptist Church, his aunt Carlee's church, but Curtis Wilson suggested Second Baptist for its youth. On October 20, 1974, Harry joined Second Baptist under Rev. A.P. Williams, befriending the pastor's daughter, Kathy. He participated in Christian Education, Inspirational Choraleers, and Chain Lake District Association/choir until moving to Detroit. There, he joined Hartford Memorial Baptist Church under Rev Dr. Charles G. Adams. He was the Time Capsule/Creator Historical Jubilee Choir - President, Office Staff - Clerk, Pastors Transportation and Agape House - Volunteer serving until returning to Memphis in June 2025.
Harry's truest joy and most profound passions in life were working and serving in the funeral business, church administration as well as being an avid researcher. His nicknames of "The Bishop", The Historian", "Undertaker" and "Alex Haley" perfectly described him. His vast knowledge of mortuary and funeral services was extraordinary, and he was a historian of funeral service. This was apparent and evident as he was employed for over forty years in the funeral business with Barksdale, Atkins/Wilson, Stinson, Haley and Kemp Funeral Homes in Michigan and N.J. Ford funeral home and E.H. Ford Mortuary in Memphis. He served God and utilized his gifts of administration and helps through employment at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church and Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.
