Joined the 49th NC Infantry, Co. C, 18 March 1862. Died of disease (measles) after being sent home to Gold Hill, NC on the 4th or 14th of May 1862. He was a blacksmith as listed in 1860 Census in Gold Hill, NC (Rowan County).
