Civil War Letter From Williamston, MI Father To Soldier Son
Williamston, February 19, 1864
Dear Son,
Received your line this morning and was glad to hear from you. We are all well at present. Stephen Laiton gave me your Town order and said he lent you two dollars when you was at Jackson and I paid him the money again for you.
The children and your mother would be glad to see you before you leave the state. I would like to have you come home on a furlow. Before you leave for the seat of n-are I wish you gods blessing may rest upon you forever. I hope your arms will not lay you up long for the government will have need of you serving. You must rite often and rite how much bounty money you receive and when you received it. When you receive this rite how you are and where you are and all about the particulars.
Yours with respect
