The following is a brief, condensed bio of Emma E Perkins. The information comes from records & stories told to me by John Gibson, his son Frank, and my mother, who lived with, and close by John & his 3rd wife Sarah Scott Gibson from the early 1930's to their death 1950 in Orange TX.

Emma E Perkins was born in late fall (Sept?) ca 1877-1878. Here family lived in the upper Sabine, Calcasieu/lower Beauregard Parish, Louisiana area. She was the daughter of Rev Henry Oliver Perkins 1845-1912 and Sarah (Varner) Perkins 1847-1919.

The US 1880 Census (Note: see the photo copy under Photos) list her as one of five children with her parents, grandmother, ( Annie? 1812) and a orphan named Joseph Henderson. Sarah Perkins will bear 10 children in all to Oliver, but only 8 will be living 1900 census says.

Emma was married Dec 1897 (by her father, Rev Oliver as I was told) to John Gibson . Two of John's brothers & his mother Lavinia were present along with Emma's family members. John was a Timber man. He was born in Calcasieu LA, Rapids Parish. in ca 1875. His mother was Lavinia
(Carter) Gibson. His father is unknown.

Now in 1900 we find Emma & John Gibson living in Newton TX. Justice Precincts 5-6 US Census. They have been married 3 years and have one son, Frank Frances Gibson born Oct 1898. Emma is pregnant with their 2nd child, Floyd Gibson 1900-1902. The family will move as the timber cutting of
East Texas and West Louisiana moves. They have not been found on the 1910 Census. But in 1910 we would of found:

John Gibson 35 yrs
Emma Gibson 31 yrs
Frank Gibson 12 yrs
Floria (Gibson) Doyle 7 yrs
William Oliver Gibson 5 yrs
Myrtle (Gibson) Smith 3 yrs
John Alvin Gibson 9 m

Emma & John had two more children after 1910. One was a miscarriage and then on Jan 15th 1913 Eugene Gibson was born. Eugene is the last child that Emma was able to bear. Emma would die in ca 1915. Pop (John Gibson) said Eugene was around 2 yrs old at the time and Papa Frank said it was
just before he went into the Army WW1 (1916/1917).

She was buried at Goodhope Cemetery, Singer LA next to Floyd, close to her father Rev Oliver. Her & Floyd's graves have never been marked.

Note* The 1880 Census list Annie 68 years old as Oliver's mother? Records show that Frances (Fannie)Goins Nelson Perkins had died in 1876) and Isaac Perkins was living with son Joshua Perkins in the Upper Sabine 1880. We think this may be Amy Ann Johnson Varner, Sarah's mother? As Samuel had died before 1860 where you find Anna & children in 1860 before coming back to Calcasieu Parish, LA in 1870.
