My love of genealogy started with an old-handwritten letter I found at my grandmothers house. A distant cousin had corresponded with her many years before putting together a family tree. I was 13 at the time. I took an old typewriter, and my research began! Once I got my drivers license, I began visiting courthouses and graveyards. When I went to college, I got my first computer and email address. I purchased the family-tree-maker software and began transferring my research from my paper files and notes. After grad school, life got busy, and the genealogy research even haulted for a few years. But, now that our children are a little older, I do get to dabble a bit again!
