I'm an author, and retired home improvement contractor, from Brooklyn, NY, transplanted to Fredericksburg, VA, by way of Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and Allentown, PA but starting from NYC years ago. Through this site I was finally able to locate the grave of my only full-blooded sibling, Dorothy Ann Behling, who died when she was 8 years old, having been severely retarded from birth. I'm a Vietnam-era veteran, serving in the US Navy from July of 1974 to July of 1980 as a Gunner's Mate in the Gator Navy.

I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in New York City, both paid and as a volunteer, from 1982 to 1999, although my family's business is in the construction industry. I was the public relations officer of the Williamsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as well as the dispatcher training officer.

From 1984 to 1986, I was the telecommunications editor for a major computer magazine and authored several popular pieces of software, some of which are still in use. I have a bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Sciences, and an associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Theory.

I'm also the founder and chairman of the board of directors of the SP:WaW Depot Association, Inc., a non-profit WWII wargaming and historical society with more than 53,700 members worldwide.

I am currently medically retired with severe arthritis.

My longtime girlfriend and I recently got married (June 21st, 2010) and are enjoying a quiet honeymoon at home while she recovers from knee replacement surgery. She is a 25+ year federal officer.

In my spare time, I enjoy amateur (ham) radio, I'm a volunteer SKYWARN Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service, and a former member of the Stafford Virginia EMCOMM Team, under the Stafford Fire & Rescue Department and the county Office of Emergency Management. My ham callsign is NT2C, though I am not very active these days.

I am a very avid off-roader, often found roaming the trails of the United States in my Jeep. It is a sport that I can still take part in, despite my disabilities.

Due to a recent spate of what I consider excessive photo requests by one member, I am no longer doing volunteer photos. It seems some folks just want to abuse the generosity of the volunteers, asking for photos of entire sections of cemeteries. The site really needs to set a limit on how many requests a member can make in a given period of time. I'm tired of seeing my mailbox filled with 30, 40, or 50 requests for photos, all from the same person or persons.
