I am a US Navy veteran and have been our family historian since 1999.
My father and I started our CARNEY research together in 1999. Our goal was to find out when our Carney line crossed the ocean from Ireland to America. It was long before Ellis Island, and they likely landed in the British Colony of Virginia. We do know they were here prior to the Revolution.

Virginia: Roanoke, Fincastle, Bonsacks Mill, Vinton
Tennessee: Fentress Co., Overton Co., Clay Co. Scott Co. & Nashville.
Missouri: DeSoto (Patrick Lee Carney)
Kentucky: All Carney's in South Central KY; Hart Co., Edmonson Co., Casey Co., Adair Co.,
We connect to two DAVIS lines: One from the Salem, Virginia area - Francis Davis who married Elizabeth Compton. The second line is the KY Davis' - Edward Davis who lived in Edmonson County, KY.
