My life started in West Virginia when I was 16 years old. I'd been invited to a church party, and I listened as the main draw, a local football hero who was now the star quarterback at WVU, was telling us what it was like to become a "real Christian". He said it's sort of like driving your truck up and down some backwoods WV county road at night, looking for someplace, and in your headlights you see some farmer up ahead with his thumb out.

So you stop to give the guy a ride, hoping that maybe he can help you get where you're going, too, and it's Jesus. But He doesn't want to just get in and go wherever it is you're going. In fact, He probably won't even get in at all unless you're willing to scoot over and let Him come around and drive your life.

So that night, I prayed and invited Him to come into my life and drive it--make the decisions about where I'd go, what I'd do, and when, and with whom. I thanked Him for paying for my sins so I could go to heaven.
Now everything I do--work, play, do genealogy--is for Him.

Born physically in 1947, I live in New Mexico with my beautiful wife Sharon. Now both retired, we have close to 70 years teaching experience between us. Our three wonderful kids have given us three wonderful kids-in-law and eight wonderful grandchildren.
