I might add, newspapers (media) are heresay, they don't give you the real truth of ones family history. I have found several newspaper clippings on my families/ancestors memorial's that are not correct. We have a family tree book that was published in 1949 by a reputable historian and genealogist, the facts are true and documented.*

I found the "Find a Grave" website when i was

researching my family. It became very helpful when I needed to look up some important people in history who were my ancestors and who were in my family tree. I have been a faithful member with "Find a Grave" for over 20 years now. One of my many hobbies is researching my ancestry, which I have been doing now since 1989. I have traveled extensively getting information from immediate and distant relatives for any information they can supply for my research on our ancestors, who they were and where we came from. I have traced my mothers side of the family all the way back to the Crusades and beyond. I am a direct descendant of Henry Wolcott who arrived in Dorchester, Massachusetts with his family aboard the ship John and Mary in 1630 from Lydeard St Lawrence, Somerset, England. He was one of the founders of Windsor, Connecticut. His son Simon Wolcott, was my 8th great-grandfather. Simon's first wife was Joanna Cooke, dau. of Aaron Cooke Jr, they married on the 19th of Mar., 1657. A month into their marriage Joanna died on the 27th of Apr., 1957. He married, Martha Pitkin Wolcott Clark, in 1661. Their son, my 7th great grandfather was Roger Wolcott , Colonial Governor of Connecticut 1751 to 1754

I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). My 6th great uncle, Oliver Wolcott Sr. was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. My 6th great grandfather, brother of Oliver Wolcott, was Dr Alexander "Doc" Wolcott Sr. he was a medical doctor who assisted the Patriot forces during the American Revolutionary War. My 5th great grandfather Alexander Wolcott, was a politician, customs inspector as well as a nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States. Nominated by James Madison replacing William Cushing. Another Revolutionary War Patriot in my family would be my 6th great uncle, Gen Erastus Wolcott I . Connecticut state militia commander during the American Revolutionary War. He served in the Connecticut General Assembly for over twenty years and was a justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1789 to 1792. Maj Jehosaphat Starr Sr., my 6th great-grandfather on the Starr side of my family, fought in the French and Indian War 1754-1763 for British forces under King George II and King George III. His son, Jehoshaphet Starr, my 5th g-grandfather was an Ensign in the REGT QM, QM SGT, 2D REGT during the Revolutionary War.

My 3rd great uncle Joseph Balestier was appointed by Andrew Jackson as consulate and ambassador to what is now Singapore. He was married to Paul Revere 's daughter Maria Revere Balestier. My 3rd great grandmother, Caroline Starr Wolcott Balestier, was the grandmother of Caroline Starr "Carrie" Balestier Kipling who was married to Rudyard Kipling . My 2nd great grandfather, 2LT Robert Starr Balestier , was a lieutenant in the Civil War with Co. K. 79th N.Y. Volunteers under Captain R. T. Shillinglaw in 1861 at the Battle of Bull Run . He was wounded at the Battle of Yorktown, VA 1862., but continued on with his duties after a brief stay in Washington, D.C and was reassigned to active duty to be at the seige of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

I love taking photos of old headstones. I have photographed headstones all over the United States, plus headstones in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. I am originally from New York my immediate family is still residing in New York. My husband and I lived in Lawrence, Kansas before moving to California to be closer to our children.

I will glady transfer any memorials to the person/persons that are close relatives to the related memorials. Close relatives would be: child, spouse/partner, sibling, parent, grandchild, great-grandchild, grandparent, great-grandparent, niece/nephew, great-niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, great-aunt/uncle, or first cousin. This would include adoptive, step and in-law versions of these relationships. Which are stated in the Community Rules under Request to Manage on Find a Grave
