Some of the surnames in my family tree are: Conner, Fowler, Robinson, and Franklin on my Daddy's side. My Daddy was Charles Alvin Wilkey, son of George and Elsie Fowler Wilkey. On my Mom's side are Clayton, Miller, Parris, Rogers, Buchanan, Robinson, and Franklin. My Mom was Clara Belle Wilkey-Cogdill and she was the daughter of Rev. Marshall and Elizabeth Rogers Clayton.
My great grand mother on my Dad's side (Maggie Robinson) was a sister to my great grand mother on my Mom's side (Julia Robinson).
My family (both the Wilkey's and the Rogers') has always been associated with the Long Branch Missionary Baptist Church since it was organized.
The Franklin Cemetery in Dillsboro is located next to Long Branch Baptist Church and that's where both my parents are buried. I have grandparents and great-grandparents buried in the Parris Cemetery and the Keener Cemetery.
