Bio

I'll start by saying genealogy is so much more than a hobby for me it is a passion. I love telling the story of every day people from our past and am always up for helping people discover more about their family history. Need help? Send me a message! I am in the process of becoming a certified genealogist, and for me, maintaining the integrity of genealogical research is my "North Star".

But before I go any further, I would love it if you would stop by a memorial that I manage whom I stumbled upon. Hers is a story worth sharing. Please read about Minnie Adams, "The Wild Girl of Brush Valley Township." If you can, stop at her memorial, read her story, and remember her.

Updates and Corrections

I deeply value the spirit of collaboration that Findagrave offers, and I am more than happy to work with others to make additions and corrections to the memorials I manage. I do appreciate when updates provide the source (that's not just a family tree someone found online). Unfortunately, I have been given incorrect information in the past and wish to avoid that.

Please send corrections/requests by clicking the "EDIT" tab at the top right corner of the memorial page. Then click "suggest a correction or provide additional information". For transfers, state your relationship and include your member number. I sometimes miss messages posted below, so you'll have better luck emailing me through the "edit" function.

I will not respond to requests from anonymous, rude, condescending, or passive-aggressive users. Identify yourself, be kind, and state your resources, and I will fulfill your requests. Please note that I do not link to "Burial Unknown" unless it is an extenuating circumstance. There are many other websites dedicated to building family trees. However, Find a Grave's primary purpose is to document grave locations.

When Memorials Don't "Look" Like You Prefer

Also, know that memorials to those who died 100+ years ago have high "traffic" as those individuals may have 1000 or more descendants. Please understand that everyone has preferences about what to post on a memorial and how it should look. The memorial may not appear precisely how you want it (e.g., the photo of the stone isn't at the top, but there is a death or marriage certificate included ), but someone else out there may like it that way.

In my view, I may "manage" a memorial, but it isn't "mine." This is a public site, and the memorials are here for everyone. As long as what is posted on the memorial is respectful and relative to the person, I leave the memorial for the living to honor the dead.

When Resources Conflict

Always be aware that sometimes obituaries, death certificates, and even carved headstones contain errors. In those instances of conflicting sources, I will make the best judgment I can and note it in the bio. If you feel strongly about a change, please contact me, and we can "chat" through the discrepancy together.

Be Kind... Always

I take pride in the memorials I manage, and I do my best to promptly make updates that are sent my way. I take that responsibility seriously and appreciate it when others manage their memorials with the same diligence and respect. One thing I've noticed across the board here at Find-A-Grave is that when making requests for edits, kindness and gratitude for the work that has been done most often is rewarded. Rudeness, ingratitude, and condescension tend to have the opposite effect. I endeavor to be kind, respectful, and open to collaborating with others.

Transfers

I also would eagerly transfer management of a memorial page of a person whom I am not related (primarily anyone buried in New England are non-relations) to a descendant as well as Greenwood Cemetery. I do expect that if a transfer is requested, you have been an active Find-a-Grave member for a consistent period and will continue to maintain the memorial and graciously network with other descendants to ensure accuracy.

However, please respect that I retain management of the memorials of my ancestors. If we are both descendants, I certainly respect the Find-A-Grave policy on transfers. If you are looking for a way to "gather" your family and loved ones together, please check out the "Virtual Cemeteries" feature on your profile. This is an excellent tool for you to connect your family.

Have a Question/Need a Source?

If you have a question about a person or family I manage, jot me a friendly note. They may not be relatives of mine, but I would be happy to see if I can help.

Warm regards and happy hunting!
