As we navigate our journey through this life, we experience great love and tremendous loss. Each soul we come across leaves a small part of themselves with us. For those we love and hold dear, grief can be overwhelming. The memorials here help to remember them. They also help to remember those who have been misplaced or forgotten.

Many of my family members are here. Some are very special to me, while others are part of my family line. I think, if possible, we should try to make sure everyone is remembered even if it's only with their name and death date. I do what I can to add as much information as possible to the memorials, while respecting the privacy of families.

The memorials in Military Spring Cemetery, Russell County, Kentucky are close to my heart because I transcribed and photographed them in honor of my grandfather and grandmother's memory. They are buried there along with my grandfather's ancestors. The ones who had close to nothing, but somehow survived. They are the reason I exist. I know of those who think less of them because of the poverty they endured. To me, they were survivors who kept on going when everything in them wanted to give up.
