I am pleased to honor those who have served in the military in the defense of the United States, regardless of the time period.
I was born in Arkansas in 1952. The first Memorial Service I attended was in December for my maternal uncle, Columbus Washington Wilson, who was my grandfather, William Augnet Wilson's older brother. During that time, in Mayflower, Arkansas, December weather came in and it was cold, and I had never in my 16 years at the time attended a funeral. It was a new experience which was aided by Alta May Dennis nee Wilson, my mother, who took me to the funeral. All of the living family was still there, and it was a mystical experience.
My emphasis, having served in the USAF and LAARNG, is to honor the individuals with their units and recognize for a memorial for their sacrifice when others stayed behind and their courage and honor given this country.
I am sixty years old, but I never tire of this endeavor. It is my hope that I can continue on this quest until my last breath.
