I stumbled on findagrave.com by accident and was surprised to find my father, Lewis V. Spencer, already listed. I have since added memorial pages for other family members. The preservation of family history having become more a passion than a hobby, I will gladly accept management of memorials for relatives of myself or my husband.
Please note that obituaries published in newspapers before 1923 are fair game, as are most obituaries published between 1923 and 1963 with a copyright notice--those copyrights expire 28 years after publication unless the newspaper has specifically renewed the copyright by paying an additional fee, something which the vast majority of newspapers are unlikely to do on their archival editions. Furthermore the actual copyright belongs to the person who wrote the obituary, which is usually a family member rather than the newspaper.
