This work is dedicated to my friend Carroll Pitman 1926- 2009. He showed me South Carolina's history and it's people in ways I never could have imagined. Like sturdy fabric our families are woven together. I feel blessed to have known him and worked with him.
I am descended from William Crain - Shadrick Crain - Andrew Jackson Crain - Augustus G. Crain - Jefferson R. Crain - Kathleen Ann Crain Sherman and myself. Others names Sherman (NY, CO) Whitaker (NC), Puett (NC),Bruce(SC), Duenweg (IN), Braymer (NY), Howard (SC), Johnson (IN), Allen (IN), Yancey and Zickefoose (Iowa +Va)... States most active in - SC, NC, GA, AL, CO, NY, MO, IN, IL, VA and Iowa.
Photos I have shared are copyrighted and are not to be published with out my written permission. Some photos I have lovingly shared and articles, that are in the possession of my family are now being used without recognition of the source. Also finding they are not related Crain's (Crane) or any in the tree and it's Branches on either side. They pay for websites that want the money. I cannot pay more to remove them. I believe they are writing a book. So buyer beware. If they make up who they are, they can make up stories also. Like spilling blood on a quilt.
Genealogy is based on fact. A connection must be made to make it accurate and true. The sources are what make it so. History isn't always pretty, though we may wish it so. But all of the tree, good and bad and sad makes a beautiful quilt. Full of character. It is not hard to love the quilt.
Mother of one and grandmother of two. Lover of all kinds of music and will never stop dancing.
One thing I learned from Carroll, is that if not properly sourced genealogy is nothing but a tale. It is a researcher's responsibility to find the truth. I would appreciate that if you wish to use the photos I have given you or photos and data from my site that you note the source.
I had two reasons for learning my family history. Both of my grandfather's, Jefferson Rado Crain Correct spelling) and Frederick Eli Sherman, died on my birthday. I met them each only once. I am the youngest girl in the photo. Second, my health has always been bad and in this search I have found out why. I got double whammed on both sides of the family tree. My angel grandpa's watch over me. Our history is so important.
