Fraley Genealogy Research: The Frederick & Chloe Line

For over 20 years, I have actively researched the Bartley, Bircher-Birtcher, Spurlock, and Fraley families. The Fraley line has proven the most challenging, specifically regarding the connection between Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.

My Proposed Line of Descent:

1. Frederick & Chloe Fraley (Russell Co., VA)
2. William Jackson Fraley (Russell Co., VA)
3. Reuben R. Fraley (Russell Co, VA & KY - seeking better proof of connection to Robert below)
4. Robert Fraley [Sr.] (m. Nancy Bush, then Mary Jane Moore)
5. Robert Fraley [Jr.] (m. Josephine Adkins, then Minnie Florence McGuire)
6. Owen Jackson Fraley (m. Lena Collins/Sexton)
7. Lee Roy Fraley (My Grandfather, m. Reba Macel Spurlock, then Elizabeth White)

The Brick Wall: Robert to Reuben R. Around 1850, Robert Fraley [Sr.] migrated from Russell County, VA, to Carter County, KY with his first wife, Nancy Bush. While I suspect his father was Reuben R. Fraley (son of William Jackson), solid primary evidence remains elusive. Note that "Reuben R." is distinct from his uncle, Reuben Fraley (brother of William).

Reuben and his second wife, Lucinda Fraley, later left Virginia (post-1855) and appear in various Kentucky census records (1860/1870).
