I had mentioned in this before that the actual name of the cemetery is Ann Mariah Shain Deweese Cemetery and a while back someone had the name changed from James M. Deweese Cemetery to the correct name but in doing so they combined some cemeteries in this that do not belong. One being the Old Deweese Cemetery located on private property off of Hopewell Road. I am trying to get this corrected and sorry for any problems this has caused any one.

Also I have had a few people ask how to get to the cemetery so I will try to give directions.

From Caneyville, Ky take Hwy 79 north to Pine Knob Road turn left and go back to a sharp curve and there is Old Hartford Road to the left turn on it and go up the hill and there will be a gravel road to your left this is Shain Road. Turn on it and go out to the old red barn on the left turn beside it and it will take you back to the cemetery which you can see from the road. If coming from the Short Creek area the directions would be the same except you would take Hwy 79 South out of Short Creek and go to Pine Knob Road. In either case Pine Knob Road is about 7 miles out Hwy 79.

Also this is a public cemetery and we try to keep it looking as nice as possible, but since it is a public cemetery there is no charge for grave plots, the only way we have to raise money for keeping the cemetery mowed and cleaned is by your donations so if anyone would like to help in the up keep please send donations to:
