Bio
I was born in Santa Monica, CA in 1936 to Frank C. Bishop & Martha Janet Pratt. I am the oldest of nine children. Our family moved to the San Fernando Valley, CA in 1949. I met my husband Robert Lee Whelchel in High School and we were married in 1954. We had 4 sons to carry the Whelchel name on. We have lost 2 of our sons. We are Grandparents and Gr. Grandparents.
I started doing serious genealogy in 1970 and had already taped stories from my Grandparents, Aunts and Uncle's, on both my husband and my families. My passion is to keep our heritage and ancestors alive in the minds of our children and their children children's. I have put together 3 books for our families, on the stories and pictures that have been passed down to me. Two on my paternal & maternal side and one book on my husbands maternal side, I am now working on my husbands paternal (Whelchel) side. I have had 6 yrs. as a car hop for Bob's Drive Inn in Van Nuys, CA 10 yrs.in banking I was transferred to the Redding Office in 1969, and 24 yrs in both Hospitals here in Redding, CA. I enjoy researching and writing about our ancestors stories & life struggles and pleasures of our ancestors time.
I am on oxygen 24-7, but if I get information on the Cemetery and the Sec.,Lot & space, I can find the grave site. My husband Robert Lee Whelchel is a Artist and as you can see his Art Logo is on his shirt, he is a great help, we are a good team.
