My name is Rebecca, and I've been helping my Mother Sandra with her Newlin/Snapp family research since (2004). And, since I'm an avid Genealogist, I'm having lots of fun researching and learning all about my ancestors and relatives, "even the ones I've never met." But it's also very awesome "finding out where all my Ancestors all came from," before they made there journey to America. From what my family and relatives have all said, and, from also discovering through all my family research, and from having my (Ancestry DNA) done, it looks like most of my Ancestors were of Northwestern European (German-Dutch); British (England); Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Swedish, Norway; and a wee bit of French origin, too. That's why I'm so "silly." (Hee-Hee) :)

I'm also very proud and honored to be related to the famous "Country Legendary Singer," (Virginia Patterson "Patsy" Hensley) 'aka' "Patsy Cline," who's my cousin on my Mother's father's NEWLIN side, from Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia; being that cousin Patsy's Mother (Hilda Virginia PATTERSON Hensley) was the daughter of my Great-Aunt (Gola "Goldie" Lavinia NEWLIN Patterson-Allanson), the older sister to my Great-Grandfather, (Salem Elijah Newlin) the son of William Reason "Reese" Newland/NEWLIN and Margaret Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cooper). And, on my mother's Mother's (Snapp/BOONE) side, I'm supposed to be related to the "Great Frontiersman" and Pioneer, Daniel Boone!

Through my family research, I've learned that most of my Ancestors came to America, traveling on either a "Palatine German Ship," or British, or Scot/Irish Ships, first arriving in the ports of Pennsylvania; before migrating to Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio.

Though many early European Settlers first arrived to the New World (America), on the "Mayflower" in (1607). It appears that most of my German, German-Dutch, and British (English) European ancestors have been here in America, especially when "Quaker" William Penn settled in Pa., and colonialized Pennsylvania to be a state in (1682). But, so far my mother and I have traced her earliest (Uhland/Newland/Newlin) ancestors as far back as the early 1720's; and I've researched my father Melvin's Eckard/Triplett ancestors to the 1750's. But, I'm sure some of my earlier ancestors were here even earlier than that when "European Settlers" from all over the world, came to "Colonial America," during (1492-1763).

Though I've always enjoyed learning about World History and American History. By researching my ancestors, I've also found a lot of my ancestors have fought in almost every war, from: The Revolutionary War (1775-1783); War of 1812; The Civil War (1861-1865); World War I (1914-1918); World War II (1939-1945); The Korean War (1950-1953); and The Vietnam War (1954-1975), and so on... And it makes "Me" very proud to know that a lot of my Ancestors, not only stood up for a cause - but they also were brave enough to sacrifice their time and life, to defend and fight for my FREEDOM! And for that, a loving "THANK YOU" to all my ancestors/relatives who fought for my Freedom, and for World PEACE! And may God Bless them "as they rest in peace," until I get to meet my ancestors that I never knew, and be reunited with my relatives that I did know, someday in Heaven.

(21) I'm related to the "One & Only" Rock & Roll Singer/Actor (Elvis Aaron Presley, 1935-1977) who is my (9th Cousin) on my Dad's Paternal ECKARD Side, through our (Eckard~Gaston~Jones) Family Connections. "Oh," My GOSH... Both my Parents, my Dad-E-O "Pop" (Melvin Lee Eckard, 1938-2022) and my Mother (Sandra Fay NEWLIN Brooks-Wilson, 1948-2018) both LIKED "ELVIS PRESLEY!" So I think this is SO "AWESOME!" I'll never forget the first time I met my Dad "Pop" Melvin in (June of 2013) and we would sit and talk a lot, and Dad said to me: "You know your Mother Sandra and her sister Barbara, said I reminded them of "ELVIS." That's when my Dad also said to me: "That when he was a teenager, he and his Dad, Charles, were both watching "Elvis Presley" on the T.V., and he said his Dad, my Grandpa (Charles Albert Eckard, 1910-1991) had told my young Father: "You Know," That Young Singer's Going To Go Places!" I think it was neat that both Elvis Presley and my Dad "Pop" Melvin, both served in the "United States Army," and both were stationed over in (Germany) too. I bet both my Dad and my Mother are so Excited (And probably got "All Shook Up" punding "Elvis' 1957 Song") about getting to Meet (ELVIS PRESLEY) in "Heaven," and my Dad finding out that he was related to (ELVIS), and my Mother thinking it was so Cool that "I'm also related to ELVIS," too.

(25) I'm related to the Famous American Ohio Inventor/Aviator (Wilbur Wright, 1867-1912) "who was one of the first men "along with his brother Orville Wright," to fly an Airplane. He is my (10th Cousin, 3 Times Removed) on my Dad's Paternal ECKARD Side, through our (Eckard~Gaston~Jones) Family Connections. This is quite "Amazing" to find this out (because I'll never forget back in (September of 2018) when my Dad "Pop" (Melvin Lee Eckard, 1938-2022) had asked me to stay a week at his house, and he and I loved listening to "Music," and so my Dad had played the Singer (Gary Wright, 1943-2023)'s "1975" Song (The Dream Weaver), and I said to my Dad: "You Know," Dad, wouldn't that be really neat if (Gary Wright) was related to the famous "Wright Brothers!" My Silly Dad "Laughed it Off," saying: "You think everybody's related to EVERYBODY! "Well," Little did my DAD KNOW, that HE and I both ended up being RELATED to the famous "WRIGHT BROTHERS" after all... I bet my Dad's up there in "Heaven," telling our cousin (Wilbur Wright): "You know," my Daughter Rebecca who's into "Genealogy," will be "Tickled Pink" when she finds out that she's related to you guys, through my Dad's Paternal ECKARD Side.

(34) I'm related to the Television Host (Fred McFeely Rogers, 1928-2003) aka "Mister Roger's Neighborhood," who is my 13th Cousin on my Mom's (Newlin-Cooper-Peer-Finley-Lauder-Cunningham-James Cunningham 7th Earl of Glencairn) Family Connections.

(35) Regarding ME being Related to (British-Australian Singer, Robin Hugh Gibbs): This one needs to be researched more, as I have different parents for my Great-Great-Great-Grandmother, Sarah Lavinia JONES Newlin, 1825-1893) who stated on her "Marriage Certificate," that her Mother's name was (Mary Jones), so other "Newlin Researchers" told me that my Great-Great-Great-Grandmother (Sarah Lavinia JONES Newlin)'s parents were (Laurens/Lawrence Jones, 1801–1824) and (Mary Ellen {Lewis} Jones, 1804–1825). But, Family Search (RootsTech) showed me being related to "U.K./Australian" Singer (Robin Hugh Gibb, 1949-2012) from the "Awesome Musical Group" [The Bee Gees] which I have always LOVED the "Bee Gees!" Family Search (RootsTech) showed Robin and I being (13th Cousins). So when I went onto "Family Search," I noticed where another "Family Search Researcher" had posted onto "Family Search" that my Great-Great-Great-Grandmother (Sarah Lavinia JONES Newin)s parents were (Levi Jones, 1774–1850) and (Lydia {Veach} Jones, 1784–1856) who were Married before 1802, possibly in Patrick County, Virginia. But with the Birth & Death Dates, I'm guessing that (Levi Jones & Lydia {Veach} Jones) could very well be the parents of Sarah Lavinia {Jones} Newlin's Father (Laurens/Lawrence Jones, 1801–1824), which would make more sense (being the fact that Laurens/Lawrence Jones was born shortly after (Levi Johns & Lydia Veach were married. But either way, I still think it would be so "COOL" being related to a "BEE GEE." Because my Dad "Pop" (Melvin Lee Eckard, 1938-2022) Loved The "Bee Gee's," too. That, a lot of times my Dad-E-O "Pop" Melvin would call me up and then my Dad would say to me: "Rebecca Sue," You Should Be Dancing," and then my Dad would play the "1976" Bee Gees Song (You Should Be Dancing) and tell me to listen to it... My Dad "Pop" Melvin was silly like that, but he too loved MUSIC.

(36) Family Search (RootsTech) says I'm related "Not by Blood," but through Marriage, to "Actress" (Betty Marion {White} Barker-Allen-Ellsworth, 1922-2021) aka (Betty White) who is Best Known for her Television Show "The Betty White Show," from (1952-1954), and her acting on the "Mary Tyler Moore Show," from (1973-1977) and "The Golden Girls," from (1985-1992). I'm actually related to Betty's Husband (Allen Packard Ellsworth, 1917-1981) aka "Allen Ludden," who hosted the T.V. Show (Password) throughout (1961-1980), who is my (13th Cousin, 1 Time Removed) on my Dad's Maternal TRIPLETT Side.

(37) I'm related to the British King (Albert Frederick Arthur George, 1895-1952) aka "George VI," who is my (13th Cousin, 1 time Removed) on my Dad's Paternal ECKARD Side, through our (Eckard~Edwards) Family Connections.

Being a Baptist (Christian) I have read throughout the Bible, how important knowing ones "Ancestors," really are. For, God even encourages us to not only know and pass down ones "Genealogy" to the next generation "and so on." But, when we take the time to remember our ancestors and loved ones (who made "us" who we are), we are not only showing them respectful honor "by remembering them," even if we never got the chance to meet them. And, by taking the time to acknowledge their "names" and their place in history," we're also making sure their legacy lives on "through us." I saw this touching saying on someone else's memorial page, that really said it all: "Every soul's story deserves to be remembered," by as many people as possible, for as long as possible, whether a life story or a mere scrap of information about their life or what they looked like or who they were, as long as someone remembers their flesh-n-blood departed loved ones, they are still "alive!"
